Threadfin Butterfly - Small Called "Kapuhili" in Hawaii, the Threadfin Butterflyfish has a mostly white body with a cheveroned pattern of grey lines. The anal, dorsal, tail fins are yellow. A black bar vertically crosses the eye, and there is a black spot at the top rear area of the dorsal fin.
A distinctive threadlike extension from the dorsal fin gives this fish its name. Threadfin Butterflyfish are generally peaceful but shy fish. They eat coral polyps in the wild, and should not be kept in a reef aquarium as they will readily graze on your reef. Threadfin Butterflies require meaty diet with some greens. |
